    Rent Arrears January 1, 2019 to March 31, 2019

    Order under Subsection 87(1)

    In the matter of:      

     

     

    Between:               Angela Sterling                                                                              Landlord

          and

          Valerie Henry                                                                                   Tenant

     

    Angela Sterling (the ’Landlord') applied for an order requiring Valerie Henry (the 'Tenant') to pay the rent that the Tenant owes.

    This application was heard in Toronto on March 20, 2019.

    The Landlord and the Tenant signed in on the attendance sheet. When the application was called forward the Landlord stated the Tenant had left the building and had not returned. The hearing commenced on an uncontested basis.

    Determinations:

    1. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed.

    1. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from January 1, 2019 to March 31, 2019.

     

    It is ordered that:

    1. The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $1,650.00, which represents the amount of rent owing up to March 31, 2019.

    1. The Tenant shall also pay to the Landlord $190.00 for the cost of filing the application.

    1. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before April 5, 2019, the Tenant will start to owe interest. This will be simple interest calculated from April 6, 2019 at 3.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
